Shop till you drop!

About a week ago my mother came over to ask Nadine and I if she could use our dining room to have dinner for Glenn, Celeste and their seven children on Sunday. For those of you who don't know the situation here...Let me explain. My mother and father live in an separate apartment attached to our home. Although they have a good sized kitchen, it would never fit all of them comfortably. Now I'm no fool! I knew the menu was going to be home made pasta and meatballs, and she desperately needed my banquet room. My one condition was that we get to eat with them too. She had no choice but to agree to my demand.

Sunday came and dinner was scheduled for 12:00 sharp! About ten o'clock that morning my mother asked me if I would run up to the store and pick up some tonic for the children to have with dinner. I said I would gladly go and asked if there was anything else she needed. Ma said she was all set, so I got off my couch, put on my shoes, and took off for Roche Bros. I returned about a half hour later bruised a bit from being pushed and shoved around and almost run over by a few crazy people trying to maneuver their shopping carts around the supermarket. When I gave her the tonic she asked me if I had any paper plates or cups. We didn't...So I offered to go back to the store to get some. I knew if I hadn't, I would be stuck washing all the dishes once again.

When I got home my phone was ringing. It was about 11:45 now and Glenn was calling. "Where are you, I asked?" They were on their way here from New Hampshire. Celeste had offered to make a big tossed salad for our dinner. "We will be there in about a half hour. We are running a bit behind schedule because church ran later than usual, but you have to do me a big favor?" I sensed it was coming..."We forgot to bring the lettuce, will you run up to the store and pick some up for us?" Ooy!

The rest of the day went great, and we all had a wonderful time together.
