Paula Lupien's SF Marathon
(This is my first official post on the Tocci site. I hope I don't mess it up too badly.)
Paula Lupien just completed her second marathon!
On Sunday, October 21st, she finished the Nike San Francisco Women's Marathon, a race to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was one of 23,000 women (and about 900 lucky men) runners to complete the 26.2 mile course throughout scenic San Francisco. She was supported all along the route by her husband, Ted; her mother, Cindy (Sammarco) Adams; and her sister, Tara (who ran the last 6 miles or so with her).
I took some photos along the way, as I was the shuttle service (and tour guide for the whole weekend) for the group while they were visiting "my fair(y) City". If I can figure this out correctly, here are some photos from the weekend:
Paula, Tara, and Cindy in Union Square (at the Nike sign-in tent).
Paula locating her name on the wall at Niketown that listed all 23,000 runners.
Paula and Ted overlooking the Golden Gate (that's Alcatraz in the background).
Tara and Cindy in Alamo Square in front of "The Painted Ladies" (this was the shot used at the beginning of the TV show "Full House" - a friend of mine actually owns the third one from the left, and I'm told it used to belong to Alice Walker, the author of "The Color Purple").
Paula at Mile 18 of the marathon, along the Great Highway, Ocean Beach.
I'm sorry that I'm not such a good photographer and didn't manage to get too many shots during the race. It was my great pleasure just to host my cousins out here this weekend.
Let's all give a big Tocci congrats to Paula for this great acheivement!!!
- Brian "Luigi" McGowan (Sammarco/Tocci), I always leave my heart (and brain, and lungs, and liver) in SF (my kidneys, unfortunately, are usually left in some barroom)

Donna:
Yeah, I didn't mention that everyone who finshed the race received a commemorative necklace from Tiffany's. It is a pretty nice one, too.
