Reunion Committee Mtg Notes

Most of the committee met last night, March 22nd at Ed and Nadine's. Rose presided with the gavel and got us all off to a great start.

We decided that this is going to be a 'no fuss, no muss' reunion. What did we all like best about the last one? The food and catching up. So...that's pretty much what it will be.

Here's the update....

Food (because food always comes first with us, right?!)
Since Bruce and my dad (Al) were going to start a protest or something, we've decided the food issue. TOCCI'S will cook again this year! We are going to hire someone to do the heating up and cleaning up. Nobody will get stuck in the kitchen or on clean up detail. Glenn had someone in mind, but that didn't work out. He's got another option to try, but if anyone has ideas or knows of someone who wants to make some extra money, please let us know.

We are not going to stress over a schedule of what everyone is bringing. Here's the rule. Bring something to eat - rule of thumb is make enough to feed your family, right? With Tocci's there could be three people in the family and you cook for 35 anyway. Done. That's it. We know that there will be doubles of some things and that's ok. Seriously, if there are three versions of meatballs are you not going to nibble at all three? You know you are! We will not go hungry, that is for sure.

Here are my personal requests, though....Donna's veggie lasagne was fabulous....Ed's baked ziti...Auntie Rosalie's biscotti (oh, goodness I ate so many of those) and...well, just about everything....I am already hungry! I know my mother would say she's miss it if Dutchie's chocolate cake wasn't there.....but bring what you want. We'll have plenty of everything!

We will also get the take home containers again. We'll have left overs, I'm sure.

The committee will buy sodas and waters and juice for the kids. If you have a cooler that you want to bring with ice in it, please do. We'll make use of it.

I'll do a BJ's run before the reunion and get paper plates, cutlery, cups, soda, paper towels, napkins, trash bags, name tags and sharpies and anything else we can think of that we'd all need.

That's it on food. No fuss. No muss.

Entertainment
Glenn is brining the karaoke machine. Start practicing!

Wayne is bringing balls and frisbees and such.

Pond
We know that the kids loved the pond last time. We also know that a lot of the adults spent time watching out for them. We are hiring a lifeguard this time. Ed knows of one that they hired for his mother's family reunion. They will try to hire her again - apparently, she was very attentive, which is what we'd want.

First Aid
Al is going to bring a first aid kit again.

Kathy is going to print out directions to the hospital - just in case.

Photo
Donna has someone to take the family photo. It will be digital and sent via email to everyone a few days after the reunion.

Cookbook Volume 2
By the end of next week Sharon is sending me a form that I will email to everyone. Use it a hundred times if you want. It will be formatted for easy printing. If we all do it on the computer there won't be much back end work for her to do and the books will be ready at the reunion! All recipies need to be in to her by June 1st. Look for the email.

Sharon also wants to put in family stories mixed into the book. I think it would be nice if they related to food (don't most family stories involve food?), but she wants any of them that you want to write down for everyone to see. She'll mix them into the book. She also said that if you want some photos in there to send them to her digitally and she'll try to make a collage. If you want her email address, please let me know.

Get those recipies in!!! We know that there are many that didn't make it into volume 1. We want 'em all. They don't have to be old family recipies either. Anything that you love to make. Hey, Lisa, any good Hawaiian recipies that you want to add?

Family Quiz
Last reunion we had a little family quiz on the tables for people to look through. We'd like to do that again, but with a little twist. We want to have 'famous' quotes from different family members. If you have a great quote, send it to me along with who said it and I'll make up the sheet. This could be very fun and funny!

ATTENDANCE
This is a big one. We need to know if you are coming or not. Just going around the table last night with ourselves and those that have directly let us know they are coming there are 75 people that will be at the reunion. And we haven't heard from a lot of you. Don't assume we know. Please let us know here or email me. The number of people coming will determine the amount we'll need to charge for the reunion and such. That may also determine how many people we need in the kitchen and it will dictate how many sodas, waters etc. we need to buy.
Please let us know as soon as possible!!!

That's about it, folks. I think....keep checking back here for updates. Leave a note to the rest of the family. We want to hear from each and every one of you. We certainly can't wait to see you all.

Ed, Nadine, Rose, Donna B., Pam, Karen, Sharon, Kathy, Glenn, Wayne and Cheryl

This is great! I've been hearing from some family members already this morning (in addition to Mirabelle checking in!).

Both Lillian and her daughter Sharon checked in and they are both coming to the reunion and bringing a bunch of family with them! Here are some exerpts from Lillian's email. "All of my family will be there except for my son Nick.....he graduates from law school in May and will be take the law exam in July....just around the time of the reunion, so he'll miss it this year."

They have had some tough times this year, but there is a bright side as Lillian and Leo were reminded, "I thank God every day for the kind of kids we have.....always putting others ahead of themselves." What a nice thing for a parent to be reminded of, especially during difficult times. Thanks for sharing that, Lillian.

They are in Florida until Nick graduates, but will be back in May and ready for the reunion.

Sharon reported in that not only will her brothers and kids be at the reunion, but also, possibly her fiance and her cousin, Barry.

I'm so excited to see everyone! Keep the great news coming folks.

Glenn - that's great news!!!

Mirabelle - if you have your own email address, send it to me offline (your grandma has it) and I'll send you an invitation. If not, you can use your grandma's password to get in to blogger. She's signed up as a contributor.
